Manta Queen is a 35-meter budget-friendly liveaboard that opens the Maldives to divers on a more accessible price point without compromising on dive quality. The boat carries 24 guests in 12 cabins — a denser layout than premium options — but delivers four guided dives per day, an enthusiastic multilingual crew, and a proven itinerary that covers the central atolls' can't-miss sites.
Manta Queen's real strength is in-season Baa Atoll coverage: the boat times a handful of its late-August through November departures specifically to catch Hanifaru Bay's legendary manta feeding aggregations, where up to 200 mantas gather to feed on plankton blooms in a natural pool. For many divers this is a bucket-list experience, and few liveaboards in the Maldives time their itineraries this precisely.
Outside of Hanifaru season the boat runs classic central-atolls routes with reliable whale shark, manta, and reef shark encounters.

Before you book
The Manta Queen is operated by Manta Queen Fleet and is fully certified under PADI, SSI standards. We carry satellite communication, a defibrillator, emergency oxygen on every tender, and a dedicated chase boat. All cruise directors are Divemaster or Instructor-level and hold current EFR and DAN oxygen provider certifications.
For the Maldives, the prime diving months are November to April for central atolls, August to November for Hanifaru. We schedule itineraries to match peak marine-life activity during that window. Travel outside peak season is still rewarding but expect more variable conditions.
This itinerary is beginner-friendly. Currents are generally mild, depths are moderate, and a divemaster guides every dive. It is a comfortable choice for Open Water certified divers with 10+ logged dives.
Included: all meals and soft drinks, shared cabin accommodation, up to 4 guided dives per day (3 on travel days), weights, tanks, airport transfers on charter days, and marine park fees where applicable. Not included: flights to the departure port, alcoholic beverages, crew gratuity (standard 10% of the trip cost), dive insurance, and any Nitrox surcharge where relevant.
Twelve cabins are arranged across two decks — standard cabins are compact but well-ventilated, with en-suite bathrooms. All cabins have individually controlled air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with hot-water showers, 110/220V outlets, and crisp hotel-grade linens changed mid-trip. Ocean-view cabins feature a picture window; lower-deck cabins feature a porthole.
Buffet-style Maldivian, Indian, and Asian cuisine — simple, plentiful, and well-priced. We accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and most food allergies with advance notice — please tell us at booking so we can provision correctly. Breakfast is buffet-style, lunch and dinner are served family-style, and there is always a hot drink and fresh fruit bowl between dives.
Tanks and weights are included. A full rental set (regulator, BCD, wetsuit, computer, fins, mask) is available at $25 per day, or any individual item on request.
This itinerary runs on compressed air only. Nitrox fills are not available on board.
Our recommended minimum is Open Water with 10+ logged dives. Less-experienced divers can often join, but may sit out one or two of the more advanced sites at the cruise director's discretion — this is a safety call, not a service downgrade.
A younger, more budget-conscious crowd than the premium boats — often a mix of dive clubs, backpackers, and first-time liveaboard guests. Our average group is 14–18 divers from 5–8 nationalities. Solo travelers are common and can opt for a shared cabin at no single supplement on most departures. The minimum age on board is 16.
